Click on one of our carried Kinetico systems to learn more about that water softening and filtration system!

The simple fact is, we can no longer take the quality of our drinking water for granted. Private well water can be affected by any number of contaminating factors, while even municipally treated water that meets federal guidelines has been found to contain bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, along with a host of other contaminants.* And while funny tastes and odor, or water that appears cloudy, can be signs of impurities, many harmful contaminants can only be detected through proper testing.

*These contaminants are not necessarily in your water.

Kinetico water softener technology can help fix this problem.

WATER SOFTENING

Water softening takes hard water and makes it soft by eliminating dissolved minerals (calcium, magnesium and iron) from water. Most people live in homes with hard water, including those on municipal water supplies. Some water treatment plants soften water to an extent, but not completely; therefore, most city water is still considered hard.

Soft water is free of hardness minerals that cause scale buildup and hard water spots. Less soap and cleaners are needed, and they’ll rinse away completely, leaving your laundry, skin and hair soft and silky. Water-using appliances will work better and last longer with soft water too.

HOW A WATER SOFTENER WORKS

Hard water is softened by removing the calcium and magnesium it contains. When hard water passes through the softening system’s resin bed, it exchanges the hard ions in the water for soft ones, so only softened water passes through to your home.

Once the resin bed fills up with hardness ions, it must be cleaned. Salt is typically used in the regeneration (cleaning) process and restores the resin to a “clean” state so the ion exchange process can begin again.
